Honeymoon - Decided!

After months and months of debating between 6 continents where we should honeymoon, we have FINALLY decided on it! Read this weeks post to find out where we are headed!

After months and months of Joe & I trying to decide where we should honeymoon, we have finally chosen what we consider to be the most perfect place! Between 2019 and 2020, we have traveled (or will be traveling) to some of the craziest places I never would have dreamed of! We lucked out last year getting to go to Japan... and now for our honeymoon...

...we are off to Africa!

The first question / response I get when I tell people this is "How many shots do you need to get?" Truthfully, at this point, I'm not sure. I hope not too many - I am such a baby when it comes to needles. Where we are headed is 100% Malaria free, but of course I'll be checking up with my doc this summer to make sure we are fully prepared.

Anyway, the exact location we are going to is located in South Africa. The resort is called Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa. It's located in the game reserve of the northeastern part of South Africa.

A fun fact I did not quite realize before is that Africa is nearly 4x the size of the USA! That's crazy! Our flight is about 15 hours direct out of Atlanta, GA. Just a few hours longer than our Japan flight, which I surprisingly didn't mind too much. Gives me good time to rest, read, listen to music (& now podcasts)!

Our last few trips have been quite adventurous and super jammed full of activities and exploring. As fun as that is, we are ready to wind down a bit after our wedding and relax in nature. Of course it will be adventurous traveling to Africa, but not adventurous in the sense that we would need a daily itinerary with a million places to be. We won't even need to leave our villa property which is nice! We will however, get to experience safaris everyday! As far as food, they have specialty chefs that design the most beautiful looking food I have ever seen! We are beyond excited to try it all.

Another fun fact I realized when looking at the map, is that is will be our first time below the equator! Not that that means much, but I think it's pretty cool to be able to say I've been in the southern hemisphere!

The coolest part (and what really drew me to this resort) is the pool situation... Now, when I say situation... all I can do is show you. Look at this!

This is the coolest thing in the world! I have always loved wildlife and nature, and seeing elephants up close has been near the top of my bucket list for quite some time now. We have booked the honeymoon villa at this resort, which has it's own pool for the elephants to come up to! The neat thing about this resort is that there are only 7 villas on the property, so it is VERY intimate and small! I cannot wait to vlog and video this trip to share it with you all!

If you have ever been on a safari or to Africa in general, I'd love to hear your tips! In the meantime, I'll be gathering up all the gear (and of course a safari hat) for our trip!
